Established in 2001
It was only natural that three men who have been trekking independently in the Northern Areas since 1987 were eventually to come together. Karim Mutrib of Hunza and Javid Anwer and Salman Rashid of Lahore chanced upon each other in 1990. Thereafter they walked together in the high places of the North. In their several journeys together they discovered a common gripe: the difficulty of acquiring quality trekking equipment in Pakistan. Not only was the equipment not available freely, but whatever was to be had could only be obtained in bits and pieces from a number of different retailers
In 1998 they set out on the long road to equipment development. With no knowledge of manufacturing they utilised their experience as users and came up with some practically innovative tent designs. The prototypes were put through extensive field tests by none other than the trio themselves. Of course there were shortcomings. Removing these faults, manufacturing began in earnest.
Word spread and a steady trickle of customers began to grow into a sizeable clientele. This was when the idea of a regular store evolved. That was the beginning of Adventure Shop. In April 2001 Adventure Shop opened its doors to its clients and quickly moved on from just tents to sleeping bags as well as other allied equipment. Import of manufactured items followed.
For Adventure Shop it has been a long road to earning the respect of their customers. But it has all been a very fulfilling journey. Our doors are open; please come in.
